Indeeed, the colour is getting a lot better, bringing out tons of detail and making the page look pretty professional.
Although, in my opinion, a darker character outline, much like the building in the first panel, wouldn’t hurt to try.
Thanks! I tried it but it really makes the characters look two-dimensional. And it also makes it look like I took the shortcut and colored inside the lines.
Maybe I’ll keep the dark lines in Writhe and Shine!
Thanks. I know this color scheme isn’t exactly what I had in mind, but I felt I had to experiment and work it out. And the best way tot do that was to set a deadline for myself every week! Thank you for sticking with me while I figure it out.
Is she going to get stuck with a supermarket job? My sympathies if she ends up in some chain and double sympathies if she ends up in deli. (Can you tell what I did for almost 6 years as a first job?)
Actually this is the perfect song of the day–doesn’t the Wizard of Oz turn to color during the song “Money” (right on the first cash register sound, iirc) in the Dark Side of the Rainbow play-along? (See number 12 here: https://home.comcast.net/~davejanelle/floyd.htm ).
One thing I haven’t done yet is watch The Wizard of Oz and listen to Dark Side of the Moon. I want to but I’ve never really gotten around to it.
But, yeah! I guess it would be appropriate!
Overall I like the color, and you seem to have a solid handle on the characters’ color schemes. There are a few things I notice, like highlights being different, doubtless that is a small adjustment linked to repetition. The backgrounds are really kind of a trapped zone now, in panel two the plants almost camouflage Maxine’s doo. In panel one, the market lacks variation in color, which is part of a balancing act in itself, trying to have some of the realism of the color riot of modern retail vs having the background stay in the back ground.
Minor points though!
Overall I think the bold high chroma choices add impact, and as Nekro said, the third panel really pops.
But you know… Over all its like a hot body. A really hot body looks good wrapped in rags or in formal attire. In cartoons, strong character design looks good in B&W or in color, and your characters have strong design element! I like the purple particularly!

Awesome! Thanks for the critique! I agree. I’ll just have to keep practicing. That way I’ll get better and faster at coloring.
Like I said in another comment, thanks for sticking with me while I experiment!
I love the color scheme Sir. The third panel seems to jump right off the screen. Also had a feeling that Maxine’s hair would be green.
Thank you! It’s a first [sorta] attempt but I figured I might as well start and get it over with.
Wow, I like! Looks great!
Thanks!

I’m glad to hear you are experimenting with the comic. The most sutable colour scheme will eventually reveal itself if this keeps up.

I guess you’ll just have to keep reading and find out!

LOVE the color – keep it up, please!
Thank you much! I can only hope to get better at it.

Wow, this looks fantastic in color! I do agree with a lot of the critiques, and it’s certainly great to see your style developing so well.
Thanks! It will get to where I want it eventually.
Wow, the color really surprised me. Great job by the way.
Thank you and you’re welcome for the surprise!
